Lynn N. Fallin, CEO/Executive Director, brings a great deal of experience to the job, including serving as a PONO Fellow in 2008-2009, an Annie E. Casey National Fellow in 1995, a National Governors Association Fellow for Leadership in Early Childhood Education in 2001, Executive Director of the State of Oregon Commission on Children and Families from late 1995 to 1998 and in Hawai`i state government as Governor’s Policy Advisor from 1999 to 2002, Deputy Director of the Hawai`i State Department of Human Services from 1991 to 1995, and Director of the Hawaii State Governor’s Office of Children and Youth from 1987 to 1991. Other positions include over 14 years teaching in regular and special education in Hawai`i, California and Saudi Arabia.
Primary Roles
CEO/Executive Director: Leads the organization; develops and implements HC operating plan; represents the organization externally (DOE/BOE, funders, other partners, legislature, Unions); reports directly to the board; raises resources and ensures financial sustainability; works on policy issues; oversees and assists with school and community interface, relationships and concerns and organizational change; leads recruitment, hiring, contractor engagement, and performance evaluations.
Organizational Change Consultant (years 1 – 3): Dedicated contracted specialist in organizational change; develops and delivers organizational change engagements targeted to school needs; guides HC staff in ensuring implementation and follow-up; works closely with HC staff in developing and transferring knowledge. (Consultant spending 36 – 54 days per year; 1– 1.5 days per month per school)
School Services Manager: Instructional and school administration expert who researches, collects, reviews and evaluates information and data leading to development, implementation and improvements in board policies and school programs and practices; organizes, develops, maintains and distributes information and data about the corporation; identifies, develops, writes and administers grants for the corporation and schools; assists with interface with the school community and provides and/or brokers needed support services to the school community; works directly with Organizational Change Consultant to help school leaders and captures best practices for organizational change work going forward; responsible for quality control, contracting, and follow-up; and assisting with maintaining database of trusted partners/preferred vendors and systematic tracking engagement results.
Administrative Manager: Supports CEO, other staff and HC Board as needed; administers the organization’s finance, systems, and operations work for the corporation and with the schools, including interfacing with school personnel: i.e. business managers, accountants, IT support, etc. as needed; and maintains database of trusted partners/preferred vendors and systematically tracks engagement results.
