CORE SERVICES AND SUPPORTS AND DELIVERY OF SERVICES

In keeping with its proposed strategic direction for 2007-2012, HC will provide world class services and supports to its cohort of schools and, then, over time expand to other markets (sender/receiver schools, start-up charters, independent schools, etc.). These services will build capacity in HC schools and will be a route toward the eventual independence of cohort schools from HC.  Services will be delivered directly by HC; for example, HC will have an organizational change consultant who will work directly with leadership in each of the three schools to help the leadership, principals, management team members and LAP members, develop skills and relationships critical for implementing the change processes that each school has committed itself to.  Other services will be brokered by HC on behalf of its schools.  Services will be brokered when there is sufficient expertise already available to the schools.  For example, HC will work with each school to identify and secure capable financial accounting technical assistance and training so that the schools develop the internal systems they need to manage their resources effectively.

HC Core Services and Supports
The assumptions the drive the development of the core services and supports include:

  • Phase strategies by focusing services initially on needs of Conversions – consider
expansion to other markets (feeder/sender schools; Charters and other Independent
        Schools)

  • Develop services that are world class
  • Build on HC expertise and schools’ needs
  • Build the capacity of the Conversions

  • Work toward independence of the Conversions
  • Leverage, rather than recreate, what is already available in the field
